It's Me Or The DogIf you were reading my scribblings earlier last year you'll remember I made reference to a UK terrestrial TV series called 'It's Me Or The Dog' starring a canine behaviourist called Victoria Stillwell. She went into the homes of people whose dogs were somewhat manic and showed them how to go about improving their behaviour. (You can read what I said at the time in 'An Excellent Dog Training TV Series'.) I *loved* the series. Although the portrayal of Victoria's persona is, in my view, unnecessarily melodramatic, the actual information she gives across is right on the money. Her timing is impeccable, and you can really learn a great deal by watching closely the way she interracts with dogs. Last year's series was a pilot, and only lasted 5 weeks. I'm delighted to see that a new series begins tonight, and this time it runs for 12 weeks. Obviously I'm not the only person who enjoyed the first series - there's no way a second, much longer series would have been commissioned if the first one hadn't been popular. It's on Channel 4 at 8.30pm. If you live in the UK I urge you to watch it. If you live elsewhere you might be lucky enough to get it at some point; Channel 4 sold the first series to Australian TV where I gather it's already been shown. So there's a good chance if you're down under you'll get this second series too. For those of you who live in the US you might be interested to know she runs her own canine training schools in New Jersey and New York.
